오랫동안 하늘을 나는 개인 자동차는 이루기 힘든 기술이였지만 ‘Kitty Hawk ‘사의 다양한 혁신으로 그 첫 걸음을 내딛게 되었다. ‘Kitty Hawk Flyer’는 일상에서 사용하기 위해 개발된 ‘Kitty Hawk ‘사의 개인용 플라이어이다. 이 제품은 수면위나 숲 등을 여행하거나 레크리에이션 목적으로 누구나 비행하기 쉽도록 설계되었다. ‘Kitty Hawk Flyer’첫 라이더 비행에 대해서는 3미터/10 피트의 고도를 유지하고 20mph 속도로 제한하기 위한 제어 시스템을 갖추고 있다. 모든 모터는 리튬폴리머 배터로 되어 있어 매우 가볍고 혁신적인 소프트웨어를 기반으로 다양한 스마트 센서로 부터 나오는 데이터를 이용하여 직관적이고 쉽게 비행 할 수 있도록 도와준다. 무엇보다 ‘Kitty Hawk Flyer’가볍고 공기 역학 및 방수 기능이 있는 내구성이 뛰어난 복합 소재를 사용하여 매우정교하게 제작한 제품이다.

Kitty Hawk Flyer는 화석 연료 기반의 동급 차량보다 훨씬 조용한 전기 모터를 통해 추력을 생성한다. 또 공중에있을 때 나는 소음은 거리에 따라 잔디 깎는 기계 (50ft)나 시끄러운 대화 (250ft)정도 수준이다. 미국에서는 Flyer가 FAA CFR Part 103 – Ultralight에 따라 운영된다. FAA는 비행 훈련이 적극 권장되지만 항공기 등록이나 시험 인증을 요구하지는 않는다. 현재까지  Kitty Hawk Flyer의 판매 가격은 공개되지 않고 있다. 

간단한 두개의 조종 컨트롤과 자동 평형유지장치는 누구나 쉽게 하늘을 날수 있게 한다.

Is Flyer real?

Very much so. Flyer is Kitty Hawk’s first personal flying vehicle and the first step to make flying part of everyday life.

Is it easy to use?

Flyer is designed to be easy to fly and flown for recreational purposes over water and uncongested areas. In just a couple of hours, you will experience the freedom and exhilaration of flight.

How high can it go?

Flyer maintains an altitude of 3 meters/10 feet for our first riders’ flights.

How fast can it go?

We have adjusted the flight control system to limit the speed to 20 mph for our first riders’ flights.

Will I be able to get on Flyer?

Is it going to be loud?

Flyer creates thrust through all-electric motors that are significantly quieter than any fossil fuel based equivalent. When Flyer is in the air, depending on your distance, it will sound like a lawnmower (50ft) or a loud conversation (250ft).

How is it going to be regulated?

In the US, Flyer operates under FAA CFR Part 103 – Ultralight. FAA does not require aircraft registration or pilot certification though flight training is highly encouraged. Ultralights may only be flown over uncongested areas.

How much is it?

We have not yet disclosed Flyer’s sale price. Our mission is to give more people the freedom of flight so we will work with partners to make fleets of Flyer available to fly in recreational environments around the world.
